Student Problem #5 Unit J Concept 5 Partial Fraction Decomposition with Distinct Factors

  • What is this problem about?
This problem shows how to solve partial fraction decomposition with distinct factors. We start off with a decomposed fraction and solve it (like shown in the picture). Once we have it we solve for it using partial fraction decomposition and after doing all the steps our answer should be the same as the decomposed fraction.
  • What must the reader pay close attention to in order not to make a mistake?
The reader has to pay close attention that we check and know the answer is right by having our answer equal to what we first started with; the decomposed fraction. Also understand the color coding I’ve done in the problem, which is intended to help understand where the numbers came from when solving.
